Tapestries: Textured Writing in Costa Rica
How the tapestries of jungle can create texture in your writing
with Dawn Wink
Course one: July 21 - 27
Course two: July 29 – Aug 4
"Everything grows in the jungle." We sat in the flowing waters of the Chachagua River, looking up at the tapestry of greenery lining the banks. What struck me were the multitudes of textures of the growth, the varied shades of green, and the unique composition and shape of the plants and leaves. Let the jungle and your experiences texture your writing. This writing intensive is composed of three main strands:
1) workshops dedicated to the art and craft of writing (fiction and creative non-fiction)
2) rich, multi-sensory experiences of Costa Rica's landscape—including volcanic hot springs, riverwriting, and the tapestry of jungle surrounding us.
3) structured time each day to work on your own project
Bring that novel or piece of creative nonfiction that you've been writing! Return home with the progress you've been trying to find time to do! Included in the workshop is one-on-one editing and ideas for your particular writing project. Come to Costa Rica and learn how the landscape can texture your writing. Return home with a deepened understanding and skills in the craft of writing and progress on your own project. See you in Costa Rica! ¡Pura Vida!
